In “Creating Community” the author explains how “Jesus made it clear that our mission is to make disciples.  Jesus was saying that as we go through the normal stuff of life—as we go to work, interact with our friends, and do all the things we normally do—our purpose is to relationally connect with people in such a way that it encourages them to follow Christ.”

Family Groups are the way to get connected and be encouraged to grow spiritually.

At Pathway we believe spiritual growth flows out of two basic commitments:

· A commitment to God and the Bible.

· A commitment to significant Christian relationships.

It is our goal to have every attender of Pathway involved in a Family Group!

These home Bible study groups require a ten-week commitment, and are comprised of 10-16 people. They meet weekly to share, to study God's Word and to support one another spiritually. Most of the groups study a sermon-based curriculum.

Summer semester 2010: The weeks of June 6, 13, 20, 27--July 11, 18, 25-- August 1, 8, 15

How Important Are Family Groups? Family Groups are at the heart of what we do at Pathway Church. They're the place where real ministry takes place as we study God's Word, while supporting and sharing our lives with one another. We believe that meeting together on a regular basis is time well spent.

When and Where Do They Meet? Family Groups meet on various nights of the week in homes.

How Long Do They Last? Each Family Group semester lasts 10 weeks. We have three semesters. At the end of each semester, you will have the choice of staying in the same group, trying a new group or even taking a break. Most groups stay together throughout the entire year.

What is the Required Commitment? Joining a Family Group requires a ten- week commitment to attend weekly meetings. Come prepared to share life with others! Obviously, allowances are made for sickness, vacation, work conflicts. This commitment is the key to a strong Family Group. You have the first three weeks to attend the group to make sure it's a good fit for you.

What Will We Study? Most of the studies are based on the previous week’s message. These "sermon-based" Family Groups are built on a "Lecture-Lab" model. Imagine the message as a lecture on Christian living, and the Family Group as a lab where you get to roll up your sleeves and discuss how the message works in real life.

What About Child Care? Our groups are prepared and ready for children, so bring the whole family. Of course you are free to arrange for care for your kids, but most families find that its fun to bring them along. If you have further questions on this, please check with your Family Group leader.
